when: sunday september 7
where: toronto island
why: because music is awesome... and apparently british
canadians spiral beach play a soggy set and attempt, rather successfully, to get the crowd fired up and forgetting about the miserable weather.
dancing bushes! these guys were especially disconcerting at night when they would crouch amougst the real shrubbery and scuttle out at you when you passed by... those idea people at virgin are quite the kooky bunch.
danko jones rocks as the rain lets up and the sun comes out.
light on chatter, heavy on music... "this is a song about curling..." the weakerthans are awesome, awesome, awesome and more awesome! and the sunshine keeps on coming!
let the british invasion begin! stereophonics kick things off brit-style! umm... i never knew they were good looking... fact. look it up.
forget paul "who's that?" weller... i saved all my battery power for oasis! too bad my camera was all like, "f*ck you!" and didn't produce many good pictures. i ended up with pictures that may or may not be confused with picture of an alien invasion. but this one's pretty good, right?
and the oasis drama? getting attacked on stage? by a guy who snuck past security and hid under the stage? possible broken ribs for noel? at 47-year-old... from pickering! woohoo! if that doesn't put our town on the map, what will?? it's not my picture, but here's what is looked like as shit went down... ("Oasis takes Toronto knock")anyhoo... all in all, a good time to be had. if you weren't there you should probably cry yourself to sleep until the tickets go on sale for the 2009 show.
